Vietti

History & Vision

Vietti Barolo wines represent the meeting of tradition and innovation in the heart of Piedmont. Founded in the late 19th century in Castiglione Falletto, the estate rose to international fame under the vision of Alfredo and Luciana Currado. Their son, Luca Currado Vietti, further elevated the winery’s reputation for crafting expressive, terroir-driven Barolo.

In 2016, the Krause Family purchased the winery, marking a new and ambitious chapter in its history. Guided by Kyle Krause, the family expanded Vietti’s holdings to include prestigious Crus in both Barolo and Barbaresco. They also launched the Derthona Timorasso project in the Colli Tortonesi, revitalizing one of Piedmont’s historic white grape varieties. Once again, it was the intuition and vision of passionate people that made the difference.

Today, the Krause family is deeply committed to preserving the identity and values that have defined Vietti since its origins. With some of the most valuable and representative vineyards in the Langhe, Vietti looks confidently toward the future with even more inspiring prospects.

Flagship Wines

The estate is celebrated for its single-vineyard Barolo bottlings, each reflecting a distinct expression of Langhe terroir. Highlights include Barolo Rocche di Castiglione, Brunate, Lazzarito, and Ravera — wines known for depth, structure, and remarkable aging potential. Vietti also produces outstanding Barbera d’Asti Tre Vigne, Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco, and Arneis, showcasing the region’s diversity beyond Barolo. As a result, Vietti has earned a reputation as one of Piedmont’s most consistent and collectible producers.

Winemaking Style

The Currado family believes that great wines are born from the vineyard. Therefore, Vietti practices sustainable viticulture and hand-harvests each parcel with meticulous care. In the cellar, fermentations occur in temperature-controlled tanks, and aging takes place in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and small French barrels. As a result, the wines achieve harmony between fruit purity and structural finesse. Moreover, careful blending and long élevage ensure balance, elegance, and longevity.

Global Reputation

Collectors and critics admire Vietti Barolo wines for their authenticity and precision. Because each cru is vinified separately, the estate highlights the unique character of Barolo’s varied terroirs. Furthermore, Vietti’s ability to merge classic winemaking with modern refinement has positioned it among the most respected names in Italian wine.

Legacy

For this reason, Vietti Barolo wines stand as benchmarks of Nebbiolo excellence. Each bottle embodies the soul of Castiglione Falletto and the vision of a family devoted to quality, authenticity, and innovation. Today, Vietti continues to shape the global perception of Barolo as one of the world’s truly great wines.
