Domaine Labet Côtes du Jura Savagnin En Chalasse 2023

Not ready

Drink the Labet En Chalasse Savagnin 2023 between 2027 and 2035. Because the wine is topped up (ouillé), it ages without a veil of yeast, so the style stays fresh rather than oxidative. The grape is Savagnin from Lias blue marl, bottled by Labet as a single parcel. In short, the Labet En Chalasse Savagnin is the slow-developing counterpart to the estate’s En Chalasse Chardonnay.

Domaine Labet

Domaine Labet was founded in 1974 in Rotalier by Alain and Josie Labet, and today their children Julien, Charline and Romain run it. Alain was among the first in the southern Jura to bottle several topped-up Chardonnays from separate terroirs. Since then, the estate has converted to organic farming and has made its wines without added sulfites since 2015. Julien trained at Domaine Ramonet before taking over.

Terroir

The parcel lies in En Chalasse, in the Sud-Revermont near Rotalier, at around 260 metres. The soil is blue Lias marl, and the 1.1 ha of vines were planted in 1990 and 2003, split between the Savagnin Vert and Savagnin Jaune biotypes. Because marl retains water, the vines cope with dry summers, while the south of the Jura keeps ripening reliable. Labet also bottles a Chardonnay from En Chalasse, so the two wines let you compare the same lieu-dit through different grapes.

Private Access, Without the Noise

Beyond the public selection, I occasionally source wines available in very small quantities — offered privately, or never formally listed. Through the Club Grandcru WhatsApp channel, these bottles are shared directly and selectively: mature vintages, single parcels, and bottles that never reach the open market. Early access is reserved for members.
