Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie 2012

The Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie 2012 is a wine chosen for the right moment — already showing the depth and complexity that define this classic Northern Rhône estate. Built on pure Syrah from schist-rich slopes, it offers layered notes of dark berries, olive, spice and subtle florals, carried by fine tannins and fresh acidity.

Refined rather than powerful, the wine delivers balance, precision and a long, savoury finish. This is Côte-Rôtie in its most authentic form — elegant, expressive and quietly complex.

Drinking beautifully now, with no need to wait. A confident choice for those who value timing, clarity and true terroir expression.

Reviews

Robert Parker - 96

The 2012 Cote Rotie is smoking good and should be up with the top wines from this estate. Inky colored, full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, it offers classic pepper, violets, bacon fat, olive and sweet cassis-like fruits. Opening up with time in the glass, it has the approachable, supple feel of the vintage, yet has more than enough mid-palate depth and fine tannin to keep it drinking beautifully for another two decades.

Vinous - 94

(15% new oak): Deep ruby. Complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, incense, violet and cracked pepper, along with a vibrant mineral overtone. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering intense blackberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that stretch out slowly with air. This concentrated yet lively Côte-Rôtie finishes with superb clarity and even tannins.

Domaine Jamet

Domaine Jamet is one of the most respected producers in Côte-Rôtie, known for its traditional approach and pure expression of Syrah. Founded in the 1970s by the Jamet family, the estate has built a strong reputation through meticulous vineyard work and a focus on terroir over modern winemaking trends.

The vineyards are spread across multiple lieux-dits on the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie, where schist-rich soils and careful farming define the style. Every step, from vineyard to cellar, is guided by restraint and precision, resulting in wines of finesse, complexity and authenticity.

Terroir

Côte-Rôtie, one of the jewels of the Northern Rhône, is a wine region of unparalleled beauty and complexity, renowned for its steep vineyards and breathtaking terroir. This iconic appellation, situated on the sun-drenched slopes along the Rhône River, offers an exceptional combination of climate and soil, making it ideal for the cultivation of Syrah, often complemented by a small addition of Viognier.

The vineyards of Côte-Rôtie benefit from a unique southeast-facing exposure, where the steep terraces maximize sunlight absorption. The soils, rich in schist and granite, contribute to the refined mineral structure of the wines, while the proximity to the river provides a temperate microclimate that protects the grapes from extreme temperatures.
